Rebecca Clarkson is the designer/maker behind Donegan Designs. A graduate of the world-renowned MA Ceramic Design course at Staffordshire University, Stoke-on –Trent, England. Rebecca originally being a painter first encountered clay as a six-week module on her Foundation Course.
“Clay took over! The intimacy and passion for the raw material overwhelms me even to this day. I didn’t choose this profession it chose me”.
Rebecca progressed to study Ceramics and Painting on a BA (Hons) at Wolverhampton University. Her range of porcelain tableware, which uses a variety of ceramic processes such as jigger- jolley, slipcasting and hand building techniques was a complete sell-out at every ceramic show she attended.
Rebecca immediately started her MA, which culminated in the production of the bone china tableware. Form, function and pattern are paramount to Rebecca’s designs as one cannot exist without the other, fusing together modern technologies with traditional established techniques. The whiteware form is decorated with ceramic transfers of extraordinary lustre using digitally photographic manipulation of designs to produce thoroughly fresh and modern products.
Rebecca now works from Donegan Designs studio, which is located in the heart of the Vale of Glamorgan, South Wales where they produce the porcelain ware and decorate the bone china tableware. |
